Want to make sure you're billing in the most up-to-date code combinations and keeping up with the latest edits?
Then the coders in your office should have access to the members-only areas of the Web sites of the associations you belong to, says consultant George Alex with Bethesda, Md.-based Iatro. Often, professional organizations will publish new changes to Correct Coding Initiative edits and other important billing changes quickly on their sites, but only in a proprietary or protected area that requires a membership number.
This information is most valuable to coders, who should work with physicians to make sure they can access it, Alex says.
