Question: A patient brought in an MRI for the doctor to review. What do we bill along with the 99213? Should we use a modifier?

Answer: In this case, the MRI review will be counted in the MDM (medical decision making) of the office visit, i.e., 99213 (Office or other outpatient visit for the evaluation and management of an established patient …). It will not be billed separately.
