Question: What’s the CPT® coding for a needle core biopsy of the back of the tongue? I wasn’t sure if 41105 applied since it’s not a fine needle aspiration (FNA) biopsy. Nevada Subscriber Answer: Code 41105 (Biopsy of tongue; posterior one-third) isn’t designated to be reported for one form of biopsy over another. You may report 41105 for a needle core or excisional biopsy of the back third of the tongue.
