Submit 'Unclassified' for Restylane

Question: Can you help me with the correct code to use for Restylane billing? I need to bill for the material but can’t seem to find the correct code.

Answer: Restylane is hyaluronic acid, which, according to the HCPCS Table of Drugs, is reported with J3490 (Unclassified drug). Some current insurance policies show the same stance.
Restylane is considered medically necessary for unilateral vocal cord paralysis. Just check your payers’ coverage guidelines.
