Silver Nitrate Cauterization of Eardrum Perforation

Question: Is there a CPT® code we can use for cauterization with silver nitrate of a pinpoint perforation of the eardrum? The physician performed the procedure in the office almost three months following a tympanoplasty on the same ear.

Answer: Unfortunately, CPT® does not include a code for this service. Your only choice is to report 69399 (Unlisted procedure, external ear).
