Question: Is it appropriate to bill for removal of a cochlear implant and reimplantation of cochlear implant in the same session?

Answer: You report cochlear implant with 69930 (Cochlear device implantation, with or without mastoidectomy). The implant removal should not be separately reportable since it qualifies under the implantation. If billing the removal were feasible, you would report 69949 (Unlisted procedure, inner ear).
