When a physician gives an injection transtympanically (into the middle ear) instead of intramuscularly, you should use 69801 (Labyrinthotomy, with or without cryosurgery including other nonexcisional destructive procedures or perfusion of vestibuloactive drugs [single or multiple perfusions]; transcanal), not 90772 (Therapeutic, prophylactic or diagnostic injection [specify substance or drug]; subcutaneous or intramuscular). Perfusions of gentamicin, as well as anti-inflammatory steroids, qualify for 69801, which contains 90 global days.
