READER QUESTIONS :

Use A4466 for Deleted Orthoses Codes

Question: How do we code an elbow support, now that L3701 is outdated? Missiouri Subscriber Answer: HCPCS 2010 deletes L3701 (Elbow orthosis, elastic, prefabricated, includes fitting and adjust- ment [e.g., neoprene, Lycra]) and other codes for elastic orthoses. Your new alternative is A4466 (Garment, belt, sleeve or other covering, elastic or similar stretchable material, any type, each). Watch: Don't miss the black diamond symbol beside A4466 that denotes codes Medicare doesn't cover or considers invalid. Reimbursement is subject to individual payer and policy guidelines.
