READER QUESTIONS :

Add J7325 to Your Synvisc Coding Family

Question: Our orthopedist is beginning to provide Synvisc injections. How do I code the medication? Ohio Subscriber Answer: You should report the new HCPCS code J7325 (Hyaluronan or derivative, Synvisc or Synvisc-One, for intra-articular injection, 1 mg). Note: The star symbol in HCPCS 2010 designates codes that are reimbursed at the payer's discretion. J7325 is one of the starred codes, so check your payer's guidelines and obtain an advance beneficiary notice (ABN) from the patient before treatment if necessary.
