Reader Question:

Refrain From Reporting 29700 And 29075 Together

Question: Would it be appropriate to report cast removal using code 29700 (Removal or bivalving; gauntlet, boot or body cast) with modifier 59 (Distinct procedural service...) on the same day a new cast, reported code 29075 (Application, cast; elbow to finger (short arm)) is applied if the original cast was placed by someone in a different ortho practice? Ohio Subscriber Answer: You cannot report codes 29700 and 29075 together if they are done on same anatomical location. The code 29075 will only be reported. If it is different, certainly use it with 59 modifier.
