Reader Question:

Exercise Instruction

Question: What code should I use when the orthopedist teaches the patient exercises for her therapy program? Indiana Subscriber Answer: This service is not separately billable and should be included in the orthopedist's E/M service for that patient's visit. Although it may be tempting to bill the therapeutic exercises code (97110), this should only be billed if the exercises are part of an established therapy plan.
