In the volume 13, number 6 issue of the Orthopedic Coding Alert, code 20610 (Arthrocentesis, aspiration, and/or injection; major joint or bursa [e.g., shoulder, hip, knee joint, subacromial bursa]) lists the incorrect global period. You'll find this code has no global period in the Physician Fee Schedule. Therefore, you should not apply modifier 58 for the series of hyaluronate injections.
