Dr. Wimbish brings practice experience and coding expertise to newsletter

Optometry Coding & Billing Alert welcomes Charles Wimbish, OD, as a Consulting Editor.

Dr. Wimbish is the author of Coding for Medicare: Optometry and The Complete Contact Lens Guide, and president of Wimbish Consulting Group in Martinsville, Va., specializing in practice promotion and optometry in Medicare. He is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Virginia Optometric Association and is certified by the Virginia Board of Optometry in Ocular Therapeutics.

He received his undergraduate degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; his professional degree at the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tenn.; and postgraduate training at the University of Missouri in St. Louis.

"Having practiced in Martinsville for 37 years, I am quite familiar with coding problems optometrists run into," he says. "Now, after studying coding for four years, I'm amazed at how much money optometrists leave on the table. The sad part is that many don't know they are losing so much. To fill these two gaps was one reason I founded Wimbish Consulting Group. I'm happy to share with my fellow optometrists."
