Ophthalmology and Optometry Coding Alert

Correction

The answer to the “You Be the Coder” question in Opthalmology Coding Alert Vol. 17 No. 10, “Multiple FBs,” suggested 871.6 (Penetration of eyeball with [nonmagnetic] foreign body) as the ICD-9 code to represent non-magnetic ocular foreign bodies in the patient’s cornea. The appropriate ICD-9 code would be 930.0 (Corneal foreign body). We apologize for our error.
