CPT 2009 Shakes Things Up for Infusion Coding

As soon as your CPT 2009 manual hits your desk, make a beeline for the medicine section. There's a big blank space where your infusion codes used to be. What's new: CPT 2009 shifts hydration as well as therapeutic and prophylactic infusion codes 90760-90779 farther back to 96360-96379, conveniently placing them next to chemotherapy codes. Check in next month for the full details on applying all of the CPT changes, including the deletion of remote afterloading codes (77781-77784), the addition of new remote afterloading codes 77785-77787, and new stereotactic radiosurgery codes you should know if your oncologist pairs up with a neurologist (61796-61800).
