Oncology & Hematology Coding Alert

Reader Questions:

Turn to the HCPCS Table of Drugs

Question: What HCPCS code should I use for Reglan 10 mg?

Delaware Subscriber Answer: The proper code is J2765 (Injection, metoclopramide HCl, up to 10 mg). Report one unit for the 10 mg you describe because the code says, -up to 10 mg.-

A note with the code tells you to use it for Octamide PFS and Reglan.

Tip: You can find the code for Reglan two ways:

1. Look up -Reglan- in the HCPCS manual index. The entry says -J2765.- Then check the tabular list to be sure that's the appropriate code.

2. You can also turn to the -Table of Drugs- in your manual and look up Reglan there. The table tells you the unit (10 mg), the route (IV), and the proper code (J2765). Again, check the tabular list to be sure the listed code is the most appropriate one for your case.
