Reader Questions:

Jump on G0362 for Second Drug

Question: If our oncologist administers one chemotherapy drug for two hours, then another for two hours, how should I report this using G codes?

Nebraska Subscriber
Answer: You should report G0359 (Chemotherapy administration, IV infusion technique; up to one hour, single or initial substance/drug) once, +G0360 (-each additional hour, 1 to 8 hours) twice, and +G0362 (-each additional sequential infusion [different substance/drug], up to 1 hour)once.

Rationale: Code G0362 signifies the first hour of a different drug-separate from the one you reported with G0359.

You report G0360 twice because you have one additional hour of the first drug and one additional hour of the second drug.
