Question: Can I submit a claim for an oncology patient who undergoes treatment planning but doesn't return for therapy?

Answer: You may submit a claim for any services completed before the patient notified your practice that he would not return.

Example: You have documentation for an initial evaluation, treatment planning CT, and planning and dosimetry services. Your claim may include the following, depending on your documentation:

- the appropriate E/M code

- therapeutic radiology treatment planning (77261-77263)

- simulation-aided field setting (77295, Therapeutic radiology simulation-aided field setting; 3-dimensional)

- physics, dosimetry, and other special services (77300-77321)

- treatment devices (77332-77334)

- initial simulation (77280-77290).
