If you couldn’t make the AMA’s CPT® and RBRVS 2013 Annual Symposium, you can still get a glimpse at the presentation slides.
The slides are online at www.ama-assn.org/ama/pub/physician-resources/solutions-managing-your-practice/coding-billing-insurance/cpt/cpt-rbrvs-symposium.page. But an internet search of the symposium name should get you there just as quickly.
Choose from more than a dozen presentations, such as "Moving CPT® Into the Future" by Peter Hollmann, MD, Chair of the CPT® Editorial Panel. You’ll get an inside look at AMA resources available on the Web, including open access to CPT® panel meeting notes so you’ll have more warning of changes to come.
Another option is "E&M -- Care Coordination and Other CPT® Changes" from David Ellington, MD, a member of the CPT® Editorial Panel. The slides offer insights into E/M changes, such as the new transitional care management (TCM) service codes. You’ll see CMS’s areas of concern, as well. For instance, "CMS indicated the same physician may bill the discharge day management code for this patient and the TCM code for this patient … CMS is concerned about overlap and will monitor."
