The process for deciding the new 2014 HCPCS codes is well underway, and early signs suggest oncology and hematology coders will find plenty of interesting changes.

CMS has posted preliminary code decisions in the agenda for the May 8, 2013, public meeting for drugs, biologicals, and radiopharmaceuticals. Keep in mind: All changes below and continued on page 44 are proposed to be effective Jan. 1, 2014. But all of these are preliminary decisions and subject to change. Final changes will be announced in the fall of 2013.
