Beneficiaries Seek Benefits In Advance Care Planning Services

Last year, the Kaiser Family Foundation conducted a survey prior to the release of final CMS regulations regarding Medicare coverage of advance care planning. The survey indicated beneficiaries supported doctors to discuss end-of-life care issues with their patients.

Also, coverage of these services by Medicare and private insurance was much anticipated.

Here are key conclusions form the survey:

  • 89 percent say doctors should discuss end-of-life care issues with patients
  • 81 percent say Medicare should cover discussions between doctors and patients for advance care
  • 83 percent say private insurance coverage should also cover discussions between doctors and patients for advance care
