Apply This Implanon Insertion Advice

Question: How should I code an Implanon insertion? Kentucky Subscriber Answer: You should use J7307 (Etonogestral [contraceptive] implant system, including implants and supplies) for the supply and 11975 (Insertion, implantable contraceptive capsules) for the insertion.  Be aware: The company recommends using 11981 (Insertion, non-biodegradable drug delivery implant). CPT instructions for this code, however, make it clear that this is incorrect coding for the insertion, as this is an implantable contraceptive.
