Question: When patient is scheduled for Cervidil induction due to post dates 1 day prior to delivery, can it be billed out separately? And if so, is the correct code 59200? Indiana Subscriber Answer: Yes. In general, labor induction is included in all of the codes that include delivery, but many payers will allow additional payment when the procedure is performed the day before delivery to induce. Therefore, it is worth giving it a shot. You would report 59200 (Insertion of cervical dilator (eg, laminaria, prostaglandin) (separate procedure)) for this.
