Reader Questions:

Reporting More Than 183.0 Isn't Required

Question: What does "Use additional code to identify any functional activity" mean in the descriptor for 183.0? Does this mean I should include an additional diagnosis code?

Montana Subscriber Answer: No, this means that you can use an additional code along with 183.0 (Malignant neoplasm of ovary and other uterine adnexa; ovary) if desired - it's not required. But if the patient has any additional problems due to the ovary not functioning properly because of the cancer, and the patient was being treated or evaluated for those additional problems, you would report them with 183.0.
