Narrow Down Vaginal Mesh Excision Codes

Question: My doctor did excision of vaginal mesh on two different patients, and I cannot find anything on it. Nevada Subscriber Answer: You-ll find several codes for mesh revision. Depending on the approach and the reason for the mesh placement in the first place, select:
 - 57295 -- Revision (including removal) of prosthetic vaginal graft, vaginal approach
 - 57296 -- Revision (including removal) of prosthetic vaginal graft; open abdominal approach
 - 57287 -- Removal or revision of sling for stress incontinence (e.g., fascia or synthetic)

Tip: Because your physician performed vaginal mesh excisions, you will likely select from the first two codes. To pick the right code, check the documentation to find out your physician's approach in removing/revising them.
