Question: My physician did a laparoscopic cystectomy with right ovarian drilling for polycystic ovaries. What is the code for ovarian drilling? Wyoming Subscriber Answer: The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) coding committee recommends that you code ovarian drilling as 49322 (Laparoscopy, surgical; with aspiration of cavity or cyst [e.g., ovarian cyst] [single or multiple]). You would report the cystectomy as 58662 (Laparoscopy, surgical; with fulguration or excision of lesions of the ovary, pelvic viscera, or peritoneal surface by any method). The code order will be 58662 and 49322-51 (Multiple procedures). But some payers consider 49322 bundled with 58662, so contact your carrier.
