Reader Question:

Scar Revision

Question: Which code is most effective for the revision of a scar performed after a cesarean section?

Florida Subscriber

Answer: For a scar revision use the complex repair codes (13100-13102, depending on size). Getting paid for it is another matter, as there needs to be a medically indicated reason for it, not just because the patient thinks the scar is ugly. Your diagnosis coding will be crucial here to have a chance of receiving payment.
