Question: I am new to ob-gyn billing, and I am trying to find a CPT® code for a laparoscopic peritoneal resection of the left hemipelvis along with an excisional biopsy of bilateral paratubal cysts. What should I report?

Answer: Reporting 58662 (Laparoscopy, surgical; with fulguration or excision of lesions of the ovary, pelvic viscera, or peritoneal surface by any method)is probably your best bet for the resection. If you are lucky, the payer may pay for the biopsies (49321, Laparoscopy, surgical; with biopsy [single or multiple]) separately.
