Extra Supplement on Endoscopic Procedures Being familiar with the eight codes that represent hysteroscopy can ensure that your ob-gyn practice receives all the reimbursement it rightfully deserves when physicians perform this service. 58555 Hysteroscopy, diagnostic (separate procedure)
Hysteroscopy, surgical; with sampling (biopsy) of endometrium and/or polypectomy, with or without D&C
with lysis of intrauterine adhesions (any method)
with division or resection of intrauterine septum (any method)
with removal of leiomyomata
with removal of impacted foreign body
with endometrial ablation (e.g., endometrial resection, electrosurgical ablation, thermoablation)
Unlisted hysteroscopy procedure, uterus. Although 58563 does not specifically include dilation and curettage (D&C), the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists(ACOG) coding committee has determined that because ablation consists of removing the uterine lining and a D&C scrapes off a portion of the lining, the D&C is included as part of the ablation if the ob/gyn performs both during the same session.
