OASIS Burden Survey Will Hit One In Seven Agencies

Sometime in February or March, the Boston consulting firm Abt Associates will send a survey via Fed Ex to more than 1,000 home health agencies, according to Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services official Mary Weakland. The survey will question both large and small HHAs about the facts specific to completing the OASIS assessment, she said in a report at the December Home Health Open Door Forum.
Accurate answers about the OASIS-related costs and administrative burdens are important, because CMS hopes to generalize the survey results to all HHAs, Weakland told providers. The project will end in early summer, with a report due to Congress in June, she added.
