Education:

Vision Answer Requires Careful Reading

Q: When answering M0390, the term "corrective lenses" means:

(a) prescription glasses,

(b) a magnifying glass,

(c) reading glasses from the drug store,

(d) all of the above,

(e) only (a) and (c).

A: Even though all these lenses correct vision in some way or another, (e) is the correct answer. Prescription glasses and reading glasses (whether prescription or not) are considered corrective lenses. But "a magnifying glass is not considered an example of a corrective lens," the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services instructed in questions and answers from the 2003 OASIS Educators Conference.
