Reader Question:

Choose 36415 When Nurse Draws Blood

Question: Can our nurses bill the insurance companies for a blood draw in the office that will be sent to a lab for culture? Can we bill it in the doctor's name as the RN does not the billing credentials and the provider numbers.Ohio SubscriberAnswer: You report code 36415 (Collection of venous blood by venipuncture) if your nurse has drawn blood. You can bill it in the doctor's name if the doctor is in office at the time of collection of the blood sample.
