Medicare Compliance & Reimbursement

REGISTER WATCH

Have any bright ideas on how to recruit and retain workers serving Medicaid recipients with disabilities? The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services wants to know.

The agency March 20 published in the Federal Register a request for applications for demonstration projects directed toward improving the direct service workforce. A total of $9 million is available for grants to state agencies and affiliated community-based organizations over the next two years.

More information is available at CMS’ New Freedom Initiative Web site, www.cms.hhs.gov./newfreedom/default.asp. Applications are due by June 20.

In other Register notices, CMS asked for comments on reinstating the Medicaid Eligibility Quality Control system and extension of the current regulations covering QIO reconsiderations and appeals.
