PROGRAM TRANSMITTAL ROUNDUP

Get ready for the Centers forMedicare & Medicaid Services changes to the Hospital Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS), which take effect July 1, 2004. In a June 4 program transmittal (change request 3322), CMS lists payment rates for hospital drug codes and clarifies its coverage policy concerning positron emission tomography used to treat thyroid cancer. In other recent transmittals, CMS: outlines changes for reporting Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) Information on the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (CR 3284); gives instructions for using the CD-ROM initiative for mailing annual disclosure, "dear doctor" and participation enrollment materials (CR 3292); provides contractors a ReMAS generated data format to incorporate, if they choose, into current MSP debt tracking systems (CR 3142).
