Two school districts in Massachusetts could do more to ensure that their Medicaid claims for school-based health services are in line with federal billing rules, the HHS Office of Inspector General declares in a pair of new reports.
Part of an ongoing series on school-based health care, the reports — which deal with schools in Springfield, MA and Holyoke, MA — identified purported problems with documentation, practitioner qualifications and costs incurred when students were absent. The reports are titled “Medicaid Payments For School-Based Health Services Holyoke, Massachusetts — July 1999 Through June 2000” (A-01-02-00004) and “Medicaid Payments for School-Based Health Services Springfield, Massachusetts — July 1999 Through June 2000” (A-01- 02-00003).
