Don’t delay sending Medicare your credit balance report for the quarter that ended on Dec. 31, 2022—unless you want interest to accrue on your assessment, warns one MAC. Details: Part B Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) First Coast Service Options, Inc, reminded providers that their credit balance reports are due by Jan. 30 for the last quarter, in a Jan. 5 notice. “The quarterly report is to include all new Medicare credit balances not reported on a previous quarterly report. In addition, your quarterly reports should not contain previously demanded recovery auditor claims, accounts receivable demands, clerical reopenings, or claims previously submitted as voluntary refunds,” cautions the MAC. Reminder: The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) requires providers to submit their credit reports electronically using the form, CMS-833, “as all other versions will be deemed invalid and will be immediately returned,” FCSO warns. Review the MAC’s instructions for submitting the CMS-838 in a timely manner at https://medicare.fcso.com/Claims_ news/0487607.asp and find the form at www.cms.gov/Medicare/ CMS-Forms/CMS-Forms/Downloads/CMS838.pdf.
