If you plan on applying for the Change Healthcare/ Optum Payment Disruption (CHOPD) accelerated and advance payments via your Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC), you may want to check with your MAC before sending your request (see article, p. 1). Why? As new information becomes available about the incident and as the federal response evolves, the MACs continue to make changes to their guidance. For example, Palmetto GBA modified request forms and uploaded new Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) under its “Accelerated and Advance Payment Request section” on March 15, the Part B MAC notes in an alert and on its webpage. Additionally, the MAC added more information to the Additional Internet Resource section.
