After years of being stuck in limbo, Christi Grimm has been sworn in as the Inspector General, after some twists and turns. Backtrack: Beginning in January 2020, Grimm served as Principal Deputy Inspector General Performing Duties of the Inspector General, the HHS Office of Inspector General (OIG) notes in her bio. In April 2020, President Trump attempted to boot Grimm from her position after the OIG issued a report relating hospitals’ shortages of testing supplies, PPE, and other items in the early months of COVID. However, Trump’s IG nominee was never confirmed by the Senate, so Grimm continued in her role.
