With audits and paybacks in full swing, the HHS Office of Inspector General (OIG) added the Accelerated and Advance Payment (AAP) program to its July Work Plan active list. Details: OIG is looking into the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) expansion of AAP as well as how funding was determined and distributed. Plus, OIG is investigating CMS’ tactics for recouping the funds. Alert: In addition to looking into CMS’ practices, OIG “will also evaluate a select group of providers to determine whether they were eligible for AAP payments, and their efforts to repay CMS in compliance with the CARES Act and other Federal requirements,” the agency says.
