Medicare Compliance & Reimbursement

INDUSTRY NOTES ~ Most Part D Enrollees Don't Plan To Switch In 2007

Part D program is still too complicated. Even though enrollees have a lot of ideas about how to improve the Medicare Part D generally, they're relatively happy with the prescription drug plans they have and look forward to staying in them in 2007, a new report reveals.

A tiny 5 percent of current enrollees said they planned to change plans next year, whereas 66 percent said they would stay in the same plan (29 percent didn't know or refused to say), according to a new Kaiser Family Foundation / Harvard School of Public Health survey.

Some enrollees are reporting that they won't change plans because it's just too much trouble to do so -- 36 percent cited that as a "major reason" for their decision. But for the most part, Part D benes feel that their plans serve them well, with 78 percent acknowledging that being "satisfied with the current plan" was a major reason they were staying on.

Seniors still feel that the Part D program is too complicated, with 51 percent strongly agreeing and 22 percent somewhat agreeing with that statement.
