As part of the public health emergency (PHE) outreach and in accordance with Section 3709 of the CARES Act, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is temporarily suspending the 2 percent payment adjustment currently applied to all Medicare fee-for-service [FFS] claims due to sequestration,” according to Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) Novitas Solutions. “The suspension is effective for claims with dates of service from May 1 through December 31, 2020.” Plus: Part A providers will also get a reprieve as their 2-percent payment sequestration reductions will cease on all bi-weekly PIP and Pass-Thru payments through Dec. 31. “All bi-weekly PIP and Pass-Thru payments will be adjusted for a 2 percent increase outside of their normal reviews for the bi-weekly payments starting with the remittance on May 22, 2020,” Novitas says. “Individual rate notification letters will not be issued,” the MAC adds.
