CMS Offers Medicare Billing Certification Are you a Medicare billing pro? CMS now offers certification that allows you to prove your skill. On March 22, CMS announced the inception of its Medicare Billing Certificate Programs for both Part A and Part B providers. To achieve the distinction, you'll register for the program, then take a 21-hour course about Medicare billing followed by a post-assessment. Sleep Medicine to Get Its Own Specialty Code in April, CMS Says Billing Medicare for subspecialists can be problematic for many practices, since CMS doesn't recognize all of the subspecialties that exist. But the agency aims to make that process slightly easier with the introduction of a new sleep medicine subspecialty of internal medicine coming this April, CMS's CMS will be releasing more information about the impending specialty code debut as the date gets closer.
