The Senior Medicare Patrol program continues to go strong, with the HHS Office of Inspector General (OIG) attributing more than $2 million in recoveries to the initiative in 2017. That was up significantly from the year before. “In 2017, the 53 SMP projects had a total of 6,130 active team members who conducted a total of 26,429 group outreach and education events, reaching an estimated 1.9 million people,” the OIG says in its report summary.
