If your practice was impacted by COVID-19 and you were planning on submitting a Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) Extreme and Uncontrollable Circumstances (EUC) application, you’ve now got some extra time. Now: The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has extended the deadline for MIPS-eligible “clinicians, groups, virtual groups, and Alternate Payment Model (APM) Entities to request reweighting of MIPS performance categories due to the COVID-19 public health emergency (PHE),” CMS says in an alert. CMS reiterates in the alert that only providers listing COVID-19 as a “triggering event” will be eligible for the extension. The new deadline for those impacted is March 3 at 8:00 pm EST. Find out more and apply at https://qpp.cms.gov/mips/exception-applications.
