Plus: CMS extends QRP deadline for SNF and others. If you’re filing an Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) request, expect the amount that remains in controversy to go up starting Jan. 1. Currently, the amount in controversy (AIC) stands at $160 for ALJ hearing requests, and will go up to $170 in 2020, according to a Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) notice. For reviews requested in the federal district court, the AIC will increase from $1,630 this year to $1,670 in 2020. CMS updates the AIC threshold amounts annually. See the CMS notice in the Federal Register at www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/FR-2019-10-07/pdf/2019-21751.pdf. In other news… If you were struggling to get your quality measures submitted to Medicare for this quarter, you’ve got more time. Who: The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has extended the submission deadline for the Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility (IRF), Long-Term Care Hospital (LTCH), and Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) Quality Reporting Program (QRP)” to Nov. 18, a release says. What: IRFs, LTCHs, and SNFs should be compiling their assessment data now due by the extended deadline. In addition, “CDC data for IRFs and LTCHs submitted April 1 – June 30 (Q2) of calendar year (CY) 2019 are due with this deadline,” too, CMS reminds. CMS also recommends “that providers run applicable CASPER/iQIES/NHSN analysis reports prior to each quarterly reporting deadline, in order to ensure that all required data has been submitted,” notes the release.
