If you thought the old Medicare Enrollment Application was burdensome, you’re in for a treat. With a few minor changes, the new CMS-855I form will offer physicians and non-physician practitioners (NPPs) administrative relief, maintains CMS in the latest edition of MLN Connects. Some of the positive changes include reduced or eliminated reporting requirements, better instructions, contact person updates, more electronic options, and more efficient workflow. The new application is ready to use now. But, “through April 30, Medicare Administrative Contractors [MACs] will accept applications dated 7/2011, but after that, you have to use the new version,” noted the MLN Connects guidance.
