Utilize these current diagnoses code revisions to track trends for the next reporting year.
Don’t get too comfortable with the 2017 diagnoses code changes. The ICD-10 Coordination and Maintenance Committee Meeting has released its ICD-10-CM proposed changes for 2018 — and, nearly every specialty will be impacted.
Important: These may not be the only changes approved for Oct. 1, as the complete list will not be released until June in the Federal Register, warns Melanie Witt, RN, CPC, MA, an independent coding expert based in Guadalupita, New Mexico. Some of these are merely “editorial changes (mostly to correct typos) and not new codes or anything that actually changes how you report these codes.”
