CMS Introduces Several New 'Carrier-Priced' HCPCS Codes
You'll be able to report these codes effective July 1. CMS has released its quarterly update to the HCPCS code set, with several new codes available to you for reporting purposes starting July 1. These codes are all marked with coverage code "C," which means that they are carrier priced. Therefore, you'll have to contact your MAC to determine what payment amount you'll be able to collect. The following codes will be part of your HCPCS arsenal starting in July: K0743 -- Suction pump, home model, portable, for use on wounds K0744 -- Absorptive wound dressing for use with suction pump, home model, portable pad size 16 square inches or less K0745 -- ...pad size more than 16 square inches but less than or equal to 48 square inches K0746 -- ...pad size greater than 48 square inches Q2041 -- Injection, von Willebrand factor complex (human), Wilate, 1 I.U. VWF:RCO Q2042 -- Injection, hydroxyprogesterone caproate, 1 mg Q2044 -- Injection, belimumab, 10 mg Suction pumps are often prescribed for patients who have wounds that are slow to heal. Wilate von Willebrand factor complex is a coagulant that is often used for conditions such as hemophilia. Hydroxyprogesterone caproate is most often used by ob-gyn physicians, and belimumab is typically administered to treat lupus patients.
