LOCM Get New Code Set

CMS unveiled Q codes in March.

Providers who routinely bill for low osmolar contrast material (LOCM) and other contrast agents need to be aware of a series of new codes.

Why? In early March, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services introduced the code set Q9945-9957. This code set is for LOCM, gadolinium-based magnetic resonance contrast agent, and several other types of contrast agents.

See for yourself: The details are in Transmittal 502, issued March 11.
