At long last, CMS makes the CCI edts available on its Web site. Physicians who've been shelling out cash every year to get a peek at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' National Correct Coding Initiative Edits can finally look at them for free. After much speculation that the move would be coming soon, CMS Aug. 27 posted the CCI edits, version 9.2, on its Web page. The files are in zipped Microsoft Excel format, so users will need to have the appropriate software to examine them. To see the CCI edits, go to http://www.cms.hhs.gov/physicians/cciedits/cciedits.asp. Lesson Learned: The controversial CCI edits are now available free on the Web for physicians, coders and others who need to reference them.
